Mary ponders, trying to understand. Pondering is what brings us to a deeper awareness of God in our lives; it is vital to trusting and it is holy work.
As always, God initiates. Mary trusts that the impossible can come to be in her.
Mary’s ‘yes’ calls us to our ‘yes’. The impossible can come to be in us and in the whole of what is. We live in a vast and
holy pregnancy.
Pondering Mary’s role and heart as the Mother of Jesus has been the quest of generations of believers. What did she know? What did she feel? A mother often wonders what the future holds for her children. Sometimes, our faith is strengthened more by the questions we have than by the answers.
