Living A Balanced Life offers a unique opportunity to "listen with the ear of one’s heart.”  Come to one or more sessions.

Work

Fri., Feb. 6, 7p thru Sat., Feb. 7, 4p

The word "work" conjures up many images, from manual labor to professional careers, from drudgery to the fine arts, from 9-5 and 24/7 to engagement in the creative activity of God, in which humans participate. We will explore the varied attitudes, types, and ways of working that are both death-dealing and life-giving. Register online.

Study/Leisure

Fri., Apr. 3, 7p thru Sat., Apr. 4, 4p

Benedict envisioned a balanced life as one in which prayer, work , study, and leisure help us know that God is with us in all we are and do.  We will explore the meaning of leisure as a kind of Sabbath for body, mind, and soul and how a regular practice of study invites us to deeper prayer and living from our center. Register online.

Forgiveness Retreat: “Risking Reconciliation”

Fr. Paul Feela $125 includes lodging and meals

Fri., Feb. 20, 7p thru Sat., Feb. 21, 12p

The Sacrament of Penance reconciles believers to the Altar around which we share a real communion with God and the holy assembly called the People of God.  Yet, the mystery of forgiveness is bigger than the sacrament of Penance.  No one can be reconciled to God apart from entering into the messy business of forgiving others.  If true, heartfelt communion is such a rare commodity in our churches these days, perhaps the reason is that The Way of forgiveness (which is essentially the Way of the Lord) is also rare.  The indispensable task of transforming our communities into places of forgiveness remains the single biggest obstacle to a credible, believable gospel on the part of so many.  Churches must become places where forgiveness is free to happen.

You are invited to reflect upon the mystery of forgiveness and the essential function that reconciliation has for building up the life of faith.  Fr. Paul Feela will lead us into exploring the Church’s wisdom about the power of reconciliation for the everyday life of our parish communities and suggest some communal disciplines that might be necessary if we are to create an unrelenting desire for forgiveness and reconciliation within these communities. Register online.
